Merge Replication DataBase File Size

Hi,
Currently we are merge replicating more than 20 databases , One server
is at our end other one is far away. we are having our end Server as
Subscriber as other one as Publisher.
During each replication first we set up the Publisher at other end and after
the snapshot is over we truncate the log file and then take the backup of
Publisher database and ZIP the backup file and download to our end(Subsciber)
through FTP.
But it takes a Long time to download is there is any other way to reduce the
file size, what is the best way to handle this.
Please give me a solution as soon as Possible.
Thanks,
Herbert
This is probably the best way to do it. You can also have a look at the copy
subscription method if your database is less than 2 Gigs.
